  Story Welcome to this solemn occasion: I invite you all to witness the wedding of my sweet Hsiautsai and myself here at Feng Ju Palace (Thunder and Lightning Palace). I ask of you to be witness to this marriage, but first I will introduce you to my beautiful wife: I, Yanluowang, introduce to you with great pleasure to the astounding beautiful Hsiautsai, with whom I shall share my life into length of days. Well, well, an applause would be appropriate I’d say. I took her from her family and from the grace of her prince Akang, but I know her feelings for me shall grow stronger than what bonds her to that unfaithful Akang. Dear all, help me! Do not approve of this wedding, I do not love Yanluowang, my heart goes out to my beloved prince Akang. Akang, Akang, where are you? This abhorrent Yanluowang has taken me to his residence in the underworld. Akang, I beg of you, get me away from here! Hsiautsai, im coming to your rescue from this relentless demon. I shall fight him risking my own life and you, my beloved sweetness. Yanluowang, set my beloved Hsiautsai free, I dare you to fight me over this beautiful woman. Why, prince, are you so arrogant: you stand no chance! Besides you are too late, the marriage shall proceed within a few minutes and afterwards she will be mine! There you are, my sweet Hsiautsai: I’m here to free you from this hell! Come with me and be my wife! Yanluowang im ready to fight you proving that Hsiautsai belongs to me! What follows is a fight between the demon Yanluowang and prince Akang according Chinese traditions, in which the royal Akang seems to win. During the fight Akang calls upon his servants, who are represented by the four elements of earth, water, fire and wind. Though the prince was winning the fight against the demon, Yanluowang defeats Akang in the end taking Hsiautsai and you inside the palace ceremony hall. Hurry, there is no time to lose, sit down! In the ceremony hall the fight continues: prince Akang may be defeated for now, but now his servants take it up with the demon from hell. The ceremony, according to Chinese traditions which are different from ours, can begin and you must not be fearsome! The four servant’s earth, wind, fire and water are separately attempting to attack Yanluowang. The consequences are that the hall starts to move by Earth, Wind provokes a storm, Fire cause lightning, and Water engages a final attempt. The demon proves too strong, they cannot reunite Akang and Hsiautsai, or can they? Each separate the servants were too weak for the demon, but bounding their forces together they could defeat Yanluowang. But Yanluowang feels it too and starts screaming that no one is strong enough to defeat him, but the good conquers the bad: the servants defeat him and proceed with yet another marriage, that of prince Akang and Hsiautsai. |
